AGRA
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” comes true with the city of Agra. It is 200 Kms from Delhi & stands by the river Yamuna. Agra brings before us the past glory & an artistic sense. It has various historical buildings . The Taj Mahal is among the Seven Wonders of the world giving the message of love . The other pleasing places are ltmad-ud-Daula Tomb, Sikandra , Red Fort, Dayal Bagh etc. Fatehpur Sikri is another worth seeing place at a distance of about 40 Kms from Agra.
JAIPUR
The Capital of Rajasthan, 250 Kms from Delhi was established by Raja Jai Singh – II, Popularily known as the “Pink City” Jaipur is studded with many ancient monuments. Places worth seeing are Amar Fort , Hawa Mahai , Jal Mahal etc. One of the most beautiful cinema halls in India, Raj Mandir is also situated in Jaipur.
NAINITAL
At a distance of 332 kms from Delhi via Moradabad, Rampur, Haldwani, Nainital is a charming Lake resort . MUSSOORIE ( Popularily Known as the Queen of Hills )
Mussoorie is the most popular summer destinations in the northern hills of the Himalayas at a distance of 278 Kms from Delhi. Mussoorie offers an excellent view of the Doon valley on one side and the upper ranges of the Himalayas on the other. Gun Hill Canals Back Road, Municipal Garden, Children’s Lodge, Nag Devta Temple, Jharipani Fall, Kampty Fall are some of its prince attractions.
HARIDWAR
200 Km from Delhi Haridwar : Gateway to God is a pilgrim town whose antiquity is difficult to establish. It has grown around the spot where the Ganges has emerged out of the Shivalik ranges of Himalayas. Place of interest:
1. Har Ki Pauri : The ghat is most sacred in haridwar temple. Here is hallowed by the imprint of God Haril’ s foot print. lt is the most auspicious point to bathe in the Ganga during the 12 years Kumbh and the 6 years Ardh Kumbh.
2. Mansa Devi Temple and Rope Way: The ropeway with its bright coloured cable cars take devotees to the old hilltop of Mansa Devi Mandir.
3. Neelkanth Mahadev : This temple is situated at a height of 5500 ft above sea level and is about 12 kms. from Rishikesh.
Other places are Canal centenary bridge, Sapt Rishi Ashram and Sapt Sarvar, Bharat Mata Mandir.
HEMKUNT SAHIB
Holy Shrine Hemkunt Sahib is situated in the hills of Garhwal Himalayas. Gobind Ghat, is the last motorable destination for Hemkunt S ahib and from there one has to go by itself or by horses to the Gurudwara which is situated at an altitude of 4320mts. above sea level on the bank of Lake Hemkunt ( Lok – Pal). Large no . of Sikh and Hindu pilgrims visit the shrine during June to September .
RISHIKESH
235 Kms. from Delhi, Rishikesh has attracted sages from the earliest times who set up their ashrams on the bank of holy Ganga. Today Rishikesh has become a centre of learning and research in yoga and meditation as an instrument of mental and physical health. Lakshman Jhoolas ( a rope bridge) Triveni Ghat and Temples and Ashrams are worth places to see.
Char Dham Yatra GANGOTRI
THE shrine of Gangotri is situated at an elevation of 3200mts. above sea level on the right bank of Bhagirathi . According the mythology, Raja Bhagirath used to worhip Lord Shiva Mahadev , at the sacred stone, the Godness Ganga first descended to the earth from Heaven at this stone. The temple was constructed in the 18th century A.D. by Gorkha Commander of Garhwal , Amar Singh Thapa.
BADRINATH
Badrinath is one of the Dhams of the country situated at an elevation of 3133 mts. above sea level. Temple of Lord Vishnu is situated there and facing the temple at the bank of Alaknanda river there is a hot water spring known as “Tapt Kund”. Temple opens in the month of May and closes in third week of November. The places to be visited around it are Charan Paduka, Mana Village, Vasundhra Falls, etc.
KEDARNATH
The shrine of Kedarnath, like Badrinath is held in equally esteem and visited by a large number of pilgrims every year. lt is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve” Jyotirlings” of Lord Shiva. The tempie of Shri Kedarnath is situated at an altitude of 3581 mts. above sea level .
YAMNOTRI
The Shrine of Yamnotri, source of rive Yamuna, situated at an elevation of 3235 mts. above sea level is one of four Dhams of Uttrakhand. There are hot springs close to the temple, a bath in them is very refreshing after track from Hanuman Chatti or Janki Chatt.
KULLU
Kullu Valley, the scenic beauty situated at the distance of 520 Kms from Delhi. It is famous for its celebrations of Dussehra Festival. Bhuntar is the nearest airport just 20 km from Kullu. Surrounded by the orchards of Apples, Kullu is famous for its Angora Shawls.
SHIMLA It was the summer capital of the British in India and now it is the state capital of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the India’s most popular hill resorts at a distance of 370 kms from Delhi. lt is placed in the lower ranges of the Himalayas. It presents picturesque beauty of thick forests, snow-covered high ranges and snowing fields.
