Qutab Minar is a 73 m-high tower of triumph which was built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak. The tower has five particular storeys, each set apart by an anticipating balcony and decreases from a 15 m distance across at the base to only 2.5 m at the top. The initial three storeys are made of red sandstone; the fourth and fifth storeys are of marble and sandstone. At the foot of the tower is the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the main mosque which came into existence in India
The establishment stone of India Gate was laid by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught in 1921 and it was composed by Edwin Lutyens. The landmark was committed to the country 10 years after by the then Viceroy, Lord Irwin. Another dedication, Amar Jawan Jyoti was included much later, after India got its Independence. The unceasing fire blazes day and night help the country to remember the sacrifices of the soldiers in Indo-Pakistan War of December 1971.
